Summer Yoga Retreat

16-23 June, 2018 - Hosted by Cynthia McCabe

Who is Cynthia McCabe?  Cynthia has always been a lover of movement as a young athlete and gymnast. She earned her BA degree in Dance Education from Arizona State University and this became the catalyst for a lifelong learning in all things body, mind and spirit. Following ASU, Cynthia studied for 2years to receive her Certificate in Theological Studies and Dance which led her to discover Dance Therapy, Massage and Contemplative Arts. Graduating with her Master’s in Dance Therapy in 1985, she worked for 15 years with Mentally Ill Men with Criminal History. It was during this time, and as a way to balance this difficult work, that she discovered the centering and healing practice of Yoga. After finally leaving the hospital in 2000 to open up a Massage Practice, she was free to deepen her studies in Yoga and Aromatherapy. Certified as an Anusara Yoga Teacher in 2008, Cynthia has been joyfully guiding students of all ages and abilities in the healing practices of Yoga while incorporating the alignment principles she has learned to her clients on the massage table as well. Following her Yoga teacher certification, she studied with Elise Miller in her Yoga for Scoliosis training. This enabled her to better understand her own Scoliosis and to also help others with spinal abnormalities. In 2015, she was fortunate to travel to India to study Ayurvedic Therapies in Goa, and to spend some time at the Sivananda Ashram in Trivandram. This travel to the heartland of Yoga was transformational and intensified her understanding of Yoga as a healing art, accessible to all. She is currently studying to become Internationally Certified as an Aromatherapist through the Aromahead Institute and works gratefully with dōTERRA essential oils to support the deep healing of our bodies, minds, and spirits. She co-owns Central Coast Body Therapy Center in Los Osos, California, teaching Yoga and practicing Massage. She brings joy, laughter and depth to her classes to enable her students to understand their bodies from a place of deep internal connection, curiosity and inspiration. She is the most curious about how we use the tools we are led to, to support our own growth and evolution and to become the best versions of ourselves!
